When a person is undergoing chemotherapy treatments to help them combat cancer, we often hear about how difficult it is for them to lose their hair. This can be one of the most traumatic aspects of struggling with this debilitating disease. However, losing eyebrow hair is also common during treatment and luckily just as the hair on your head grows back you can experience eyebrow regrowth as well.

We all sport eyebrows and it’s very noticeable if someone has lost theirs. They frame the eyes and make up a very important part of the landscape of your face. Without eyebrows a person can feel extremely exposed and naked in some ways. One quick solution is to draw the hairs back in with an eyebrow pencil. This can work well if the person doing the drawing is skilled. If they aren’t it won’t look like natural eyebrow regrowth but will appear unnatural.

Your doctor is the first person you should be consulting when you’ve noticed the hair of your eyebrows has either thinned considerably or fallen out. If you know the cause than a solution for eyebrow regrowth can be prescribed. If you haven’t been ill but have noticed a difference in your brows, the doctor can get to the root of the problem to first solve it and then treat it.

A topical solution may be given to you. This usually consists of a cream or lotion that you apply to the area of your eyebrows. It works to stimulate eyebrow regrowth. It’s important when you are given one of these types of creams or lotions that you use it only in the area of your brows. You also need to wash your hands thoroughly after each use so you don’t accidentally rub the cream in any other areas of your body.

Another approach to regaining thick, bushy eyebrows is through the use of oral medications. These are most often prescribed to women who have gone through menopause recently. The changes in hormones can cause either thinning or complete loss of hair. Therefore eyebrow regrowth in this instance is achieved through regulating the hormones in the body. Once the hormones are back to the levels they should be, the eyebrows grow back in naturally.

This can be an embarrassing and difficult problem for many people. Although we don’t always pay much attention to our eyebrows, we certainly miss them if they aren’t there. If you do find that your brows aren’t as full as they once were, speak to your doctor about the cause and the best treatment plan for you.

Eyebrow Waxing

Some women are blessed with beautiful eyebrows. They may not have to touch them at all, or they may just have to pick off a few stray hairs here and there. I am not one of these women. My eyebrows are bushy, and because I have curly hair, the hairs can have kinks in them and stick out at odd angles. It’s frustrating, and there used to be days that I thought for sure they had taken over my face. A few years ago I got tired of trying to make them behave, and I dove into the world of eyebrow waxing.

The first time I did eyebrow waxing at home, I made them too thin. You have to study the shape of your face before you decide what to do with your brows. If you have a round face, or a pudgy face, you have to leave them a little on the thick side. I have a round face and my too thin brows added weight to my face. After that session of eyebrow waxing I decided to let them grow in so I could give it another go. I had to tweeze the stray hairs that were coming in, and I felt self conscious about the half grown hairs popping everywhere. It’s what I had to do to start all over again though.

Another thing to consider before eyebrow waxing is the natural shape of your brows. You don’t want to try to morph them into something that they won’t do naturally. The point is to take the extra off, but to not totally reshape your brown. Each brow has it’s own natural shape, and they will look the best if you work with that shape. If you try to use eyebrow waxing to totally redesign your brows, you are going to make mistakes and you are going to make it worse.

If you don’t know what you are doing, you might want to get professional eyebrow waxing done. It won’t cost you very much, and you can be pretty confident that you will get the right touch. I have only gone once for professional eyebrow waxing, and I think I will be going back again. They were quick yet careful, and they did a very good job. It turned out to be less painful than when I have done it myself at home, and when someone else is looking at your brows, they have a better chance of keeping them even and looking good.
